Details Of The Text: one of the eighteen Purāṇas; acc. to the Kūrmapurāṇa it was proclaimed by Vāyu glorifying the Brahmāṇḍa; the original work may be an earlier version of the Vāyupurāṇa. Acc. to Matsyapurāṇa, this work was proclaimed by Brahman and it consists of 12,200 verses glorifying the cosmic egg giving an account of the future Kalpas. Apart from the text some mss. of this work contain only Māhātmyas, Stotras and Upākhyānas forming parts of this Purāṇa. See Wint. HIL. I. pp. 551 ̶ 52.
